    How the Marketplace Works

    Other collectors sell through us. We check every item before it reaches you. Here is the whole journey, from the second price on a product page to the parcel at your door.

    Browse the listings

    1. Pick the Marketplace tab

      On a product page with a collector's listing you see two prices: ours, and theirs. Choose Marketplace and check out as normal.

    2. The seller posts it to us

      We buy the seller a prepaid label addressed to our store. The item never goes straight from a stranger to your door.

    3. We inspect it

      Sealed and exactly what was listed, or it does not ship.

    4. We ship it to you

      Packed by us and tracked, like everything else we send. About 5 to 8 business days from your order.

    Two prices, one checkout

    Our marketplace is consignment. Vetted collectors list sealed product we already sell, at a price of their choosing below ours. On the product page that shows up as a second tab beside Buy direct, with the saving spelled out. Nothing about the checkout changes: you pay That TCG Store, with the same payment methods, and the order sits in your account like any other.

    Always below our price
    A listing priced at or above the store price is held back and not shown, so the marketplace price you see is set to undercut ours.
    The lowest listing wins
    When several sellers list the same product you see one price, the lowest. The quantity shown is how many are available at that price.
    Rewards count
    Points, stamps and your level bonus are earned on marketplace items the same as on our own stock. Money-off discount codes are for our own stock and do not reduce a marketplace item.
    Mixed carts are fine
    In-stock items ship now in their own parcel. The marketplace item follows once it has reached us and passed inspection. Free shipping is decided on our own items alone; the marketplace item is charged our normal Standard rate.

    Where the item goes after you pay

    Every marketplace item takes the long way round on purpose. It comes to us before it goes to you, and the seller's steps have deadlines.

      Order and pay as normal

      Pick the Marketplace tab on the product page and check out with any of our usual payment methods. Your order is with That TCG Store, not the seller.

    2. Seller

      Confirms within 24 hours

      The seller is told at once and confirms they have the item and will post it. A sale nobody confirms in time is cancelled. For a preorder, the seller has until the release date to confirm, and we ship within 8 business days of release.

    3. Seller

      Posts it to us within 48 hours

      We buy the seller a prepaid, tracked label addressed to our Melbourne store. The item travels to us, never straight to you.

    4. Us

      Inspect it

      We open the seller's parcel and check the item is sealed and exactly what was listed before it goes anywhere.

    5. Us

      Pack and ship it to you

      Once it passes, it is packed and shipped by us, tracked. Sent in its own parcel if your order also has in-stock items.

    If something goes wrong

    You paid us, and the item comes through us, so a seller who lets a sale down is our problem to sort out, not yours.

    • The seller does not confirm within 24 hours. We cancel the sale and refund you for that item. In-stock items in the same order still ship.
    • The item never reaches us. Same outcome: we cancel the sale and refund you. The seller gets the strike, not you.
    • It fails our inspection. Not sealed, not as listed, damaged: we cancel the sale, refund you for the item, and it goes back to the seller at their cost.
    • A seller keeps missing deadlines. Each miss is a strike, and three strikes pause their account until we have spoken to them.

    Selling on the marketplace

    Selling is by invitation while the marketplace is new. We are working with a small group of collectors and only sealed product to begin with. If that is you, tell us what you have.

    List any product in our catalogue at any price under the store price. Where sellers tie, the one who set that price first sells first.
    We buy the label
    Confirm the sale within 24 hours and we buy you a prepaid, tracked label to our store. Post within 48 hours of your label being ready, or drop it off at one of our locations within 48 hours of confirming.
    Paid weekly
    Once the item passes inspection you are paid by bank transfer in the next weekly batch: the sale price less our commission, with payment processing already inside it. The dashboard shows what you would receive before you list.
    Nothing to post to buyers
    You never see a buyer's address or handle their payment. We are the merchant, we ship, and we handle any questions from the buyer.

    Questions

    Yes. You pay That TCG Store through the same checkout as any other order, with the same payment methods, and our normal faulty-item policy applies once it is delivered. The seller never receives your money or your address: they post the item to us, we inspect it, and we ship it to you. If it never reaches us or fails inspection, we refund you for it.

    Ships in about 5 to 8 business days, once the seller's item reaches us and passes inspection. The seller has 24 hours to confirm and 48 hours after that to post it to us. Standard tracked post to you follows, so allow a little longer than an order from our own shelves. For a preorder, the seller has until the release date to confirm, and we ship within 8 business days of release.
